About the event

Come to The Preserve Club property to view the Total Solar Eclipse!

Club members and their guests are welcome to come to The Preserve and use the member and guest hangout areas to enjoy. RSVP just to let us know you are coming.  We'll be setting up in the dedicated dark sky area of the property just past the entrance.   If you want to spend the night, besure to reserve a site through Hipcamp! This RSVP is simply to mark your calendars for a trip to the property and doesn't reserve you any of the guest sites.

Good to know:

  • You can show up anytime after 10AM
  • We'll be down there throughout the day
  • Don't look directly at the sun

What you need:

  • One member of your group's name on the RSVP list

What you'll want:

  • Chairs or blankets to set up on the ground and look up
  • Shade (Umbrella or Canopy)
  • Snacks and refreshments
  • Camera and Tripod

What we'll have:

  • We have quite a few dispersed picnic tables in the dark sky area - first come first serve and we doubt they will fill up
  • Geodome with rain shades if the weather turns
  • Emergency Gear (first aid, batter jumper, tire puncture kit, air compressor)
  • First Aid/CFP/AED Certified Host (Bob or Magda)

A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon completely blocks the Sun, revealing the Sun's beautiful outer atmosphere known as the corona. This is a rare, once-in-a-lifetime event for viewers in the United States. The last total solar eclipse visible in the continental United States occurred in 2017 and the next one will not take place until 2044. The path of totality will begin in the Pacific Ocean and move across parts of Mexico and the eastern United States and Nova Scotia.
