About the event
Come to The Preserve Club property to view this year's Annular Solar Eclipse!
Club members and their guests are welcome to come to The Preserve and use the member and guest hangout areas to enjoy. RSVP just to let us know you are coming. We'll be setting up in the dedicated dark sky area of the property just past the entrance. If you want to spend the night, besure to reserve a site through Hipcamp! This RSVP is simply to mark your calendars for a trip to the property and doesn't reserve you any of the guest sites.
Good to know:
- You can show up anytime after 10AM
- We'll be down there throughout the day
- Don't look directly at the sun
What you need:
- One member of your group's name on the RSVP list
What you'll want:
- Chairs or blankets to set up on the ground and look up
- Shade (Umbrella or Canopy)
- Snacks and refreshments
- Camera and Tripod
What we'll have:
- We have quite a few dispersed picnic tables in the dark sky area - first come first serve and we doubt they will fill up
- Geodome with rain shades if the weather turns
- Emergency Gear (first aid, batter jumper, tire puncture kit, air compressor)
- First Aid/CFP/AED Certified Host (Bob or Magda)
An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon is too far away from the Earth to completely cover the Sun. This results in a ring of light around the darkened Moon. The Sun's corona is not visible during an annular eclipse. The eclipse path will begin in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of southern Canada and move across the southwestern United States and Central America, Columbia, and Brazil. A partial eclipse will be visible throughout much of North and South America.
